I joined the (ASP) Association of Surfing Professionals
and pursued competing under the advice from
Al Merrick owner of Channel Islands Surfboards
in 1998 setting on the famous Malibu's Surfrider Beach.
In 1990 I had a grand month on the North Shore surfing 
spots like Pipeline, Sunset, and Waimea Bay where I surfed in the Eddie Aikau; the BIGGEST waves of the year contest, were as I got 2 waves topping 30+ feet.
I competed in the Sandy Beach Pro-AM an ASP event.
I got 2 points for 1 wave I got in my heat.
Sponsored by Victory wetsuits in which gave me 
3 new free suits for the trip to Hawaii in 1990.
That Summer in 1990 I was in line at the OP Open
in Huntington Beach, California.
At the sign-up table, I showed my ASP membership card that cost me close to $100 dollars.
Put money for the sign-up fee on the table and filled out the entry form.

That is when Shaun Tomson the 1977 ASP World Champion's father, named Ernie Tomson came over to the sign-up table, he then went into cash box then put money on the table and then ripped up my entry form. Then he came closer to me saying
 "NO Kaffir's In this event".
{Kaffir} is the same as NIGGER in South Africa 
He then said; “As long as I am President of the ASP
You will never compete in an ASP event“.
The HO’ Brothers were behind me in line and

the soon to be 1999 World Surfing Champion.
